Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change has returned 150 containers of plastic waste to the export countries in which most of them are from France, United Kingdom, United State of America, Canada and Spain. Penang Port has been one of the main ports for the delivery process other than Port Klang and Sarawak Ports.
The event was held at North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT) at Penang Port and was witnessed by the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change, YB Yeo Bee Yin on 20th January 2020.
She stressed that the Malaysian Government is deeply concerned about bringing in plastic waste into the country. Being the attendants in the ceremony were the Chairman of PPC, Tuan Jeffrey Chew Gim Eam, the Chairman of Penang Port Sdn. Bhd. (PPSB) and senior staffs from Department of Environment, National Solid Waste Management Department and related agencies.
