Penang Port Commission (PPC) Chairman, Datuk Tan Teik Cheng visited Prai Bulk Cargo Terminal (PBCT) on 30 May 2020. The purpose of the visit is to observe the port operation at PBCT during Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). It is to ensure that the import of cargoes especially food-based products from the port to factories is not affected. Food supply is one of the most important commodity that involved people interest during CMCO.
He satisfied with all the measures and standard operating procedures undertaken by Penang Port at PBCT which is in line with the regulation imposed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in combating COVID 19.
Datuk Tan also will make a thorough plan dan study on how to attract more port users and investors to use PBCT.
PBCT has a land mass of nearly 4.6 hectares with the total godown measures approximately 111,000 square metres. Cargoes handled at PBCT include fertiliser, chemical products, corn, rice, sugar, salt, soy bean, iron ore and coal. Apart from that, PBCT also handle dangerous goods cargo such as liquid chemical, petroleum (LPG) and others.
